Welcome to Year 4 with Miss Tea and Mrs Hanmer!
We are aiming for a fun year of learning and hard work to assist us in reaching our full potential.
During Year 4, we will work hard to improve our skills in reading, writing and maths. We will be concentrating on improving our multiplication and division skills in preparation for our end of year tests. We will also be doing some very exciting topic work based on “Anglo Saxons V Vikings, World Kitchen, Crime and Punishment and the Rainforests.”
We are very lucky in Year 4 to be receiving Ukulele lessons with a specialist music teacher on a weekly basis. Providing us with opportunities to develop and perform our new skills.
Homework: Is given out on a Friday and collected in on the following Friday. The children will be tested on their spellings each Friday and given a new set of spellings to practise at home for the following week. The children need to be practising their Times Tables Rockstars at home too, in order to compete successfully against the other year groups. They are also expected to read regularly for pleasure to develop their inference and retrieval skills. Children have a set stage book which they can read, alongside a library book. Please encourage your child to read to an adult at home and sign their diary regularly each week.
We have P.E on Wednesdays and Thursdays and during the Summer term, we will be swimming too. Please ensure your child comes into school in their PE kits on these days.
Look out for our activities on Twitter as we regularly update this.
