Curriculum

Nonsuch Primary School is committed to meeting the requirements of the new Primary Curriculum from September 2014.

Using a cross curricular thematic approach, we have updated our programmes of study to reflect the content and challenge of the new curriculum. Teachers have received training in the key areas of curriculum change and we are ready to provide outstanding curriculum provision.

The curriculum will be taught with the consideration of the needs of all learners. Our curriculum is engaging, exciting and will inspire children to nurture a passion for life long learning.

The following are the generic learning skills that we are striving to develop throughout all the teaching and learning experiences which we provide:

  • Perseverance
  • Independence

We have also introduced 3 key behaviour traits that underscore all that we do here at Nonsuch.

  • Readiness
  • Responsibility

These traits are expectations of all children and staff across the school. They are behaviour traits that we look to inspire in all the children who leave our school, helping them to be ready for secondary school and beyond.

Our Phonics Scheme in place at Nonsuch Primary School is 'Letters and Sounds'.

The reading schemes in place at Nonsuch Primary School are: Oxford Reading Tree, Ginn, Phonics Bug, Bug Club and Rigby.
