Year Four

This term we will continue with new learning as well as embedding skills that we have already learnt. All the children have worked hard last term and are now ready for the new challenge.

English lessons will focus on narrative, explanation text and newspaper articles. We will focus on tenses, paragraphs, adverbs, adjectives, fronted adverbials, use of possessive apostrophe and how to write speech correctly.

In Maths this term, we will focus on multiplication and division, area, shapes equivalent fractions, counting in fractions, adding and subtracting fractions, calculating fractions of a quantity, incorporating reasoning and mastery to apply and embed the problem solving .The expectation is that all children know up to 12 times tables by the end of Year 4.

Our topic this term is ‘Reign over Us ’. We will learn about the history of Britain in a chronological narrative, from the earliest times to the present day. We will use this as a stimulus for History, Geography, Art, Design Technology, English and Music.

This term in Science, we will explore, through a range of practical experiments, different states of matter and their characteristics.

This term in PE, we are learning how to play hockey and handball, also every Wednesday we have a swimming session at the local swimming pool. This term in RE, we will be focusing on Incarnation, Holy Trinity, Salvation and Easter. Also we will present Easter Assembly. Our

Our PSHE topics for this term are about children’s rules, the golden rules, emergencies and invaders and settlers

Homework will be given out each Friday and children will be expected to complete and return it to school by the following Wednesday. A copy of homework and spellings are uploaded onto our class blog.
