We are continuing our focus on times tables and reading, and your child will make their best progress by practicing these skills in and outside of school. Alongside this, there will still be the ‘Nonsuch challenge’ where children will be have the opportunity to show-off how well they now know their times tables (The Government now expect all children to know all their times tables by the end of Year 4!)  Our topic this term is ‘Crime and Punishment’ and this week we have turned our classroom into a courtroom, learnt about Tudor punishment and compared it with modern punishment, and also located parts of the world that use capital punishment.

This year will be very exciting in Year 4.

The children will be learning about a range of fascinating topics such as Ancient Egypt, Crime and Punishment, The Victorians, and The Monarchy. In Science, the topics include Electricity, States of Matter, Living Things and their Habitats, Sound and Animals including Humans.

Homework will be given on Monday for Literacy or Numeracy and is to be handed in by the following Monday.

Spellings will be given on Mondays for a test the following Friday.

Children are expected to be practising their times tables regularly at home in preparation for the tables challenge every Friday.

Our door is always open so please do not hesitate to come and speak to us if you have any queries or concerns.
